The 1st Modern Energy Industry Development Conference kicked off Wednesday in Baotou, North China s Inner Mongolia autonomous region, gathering experts and officials in the field of energy to discuss key issues in China s energy industry development under China s goals of peaking carbon emissions before 2030 and achieving carbon neutrality before 2060.
Deals for 30 projects with a combined investment of 68.3 billion yuan ($7.6 billion) were inked at the conference,.

The Australian Information Industry Association (AIIA) has grown the number of education courses it offers through its Skils Hub to over 3,000 in partnership with education institutions.
The AIIA says courses on Skills Hub are made available by Microsoft, IBM and AWS and with long held skills shortages in Australia’s ICT sector, the Skills Hub is one measure to help improve the supply of skilled Australian workers.

Women have played essential roles in the global workforce for quite some time. Despite their contributions, women continue to face professional obstacles that many of their male colleagues never experience.
The differences between the professional challenges faced by women and those faced by men have been evident during the COVID-19 pandemic. A 2020 study published in the journal World Development examined general inequality during the pandemic, focusing particularly on certain factors, including job loss. The pandemic had a devastating impact on economies across the globe, and women bore a seemingly disproportionate percentage of that impact. The study found that, during the pandemic, women were 24 percent more likely to permanently lose their jobs than men. Women also expected their labor income to fall by 50 percent more than men during the pandemic.
